Adonai, the God of the Tenach, Holy Scriptures, is EXACTLY what the aforementioned title says, “The God of the Impossible.” At times, God will allow us to experience problems which are so difficult... only God could extricate us, deliver us!

The Ten Commandments are introduced with the following words:

“I am Adonai, the LORD, your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.”
Exodus 20:2

All of us are in a type of bondage when we enter this world. King David, the psalmist, describes our condition in these words:

“Surely I have been a sinner from birth,
Sinful from the time my mother conceived me.”

Psalm 51:5

In this “sinful” state, we have no intimate relationship with God, and most human beings don’t give that relationship a very important priority. Consequently, we have no definitive statement concerning WHY we are here and WHERE WE GO after we leave this body. Rabbis indicate that there IS such a state called ‘olam haba’, eternal life, but they have no explanation as to how we can appropriate eternal life.

At seventeen years of age I was about to face a major trial in my life, a trial which affected my entire family. At the onset of this trauma, I was not aware that God was about to answer these major questions for me:

  1. Who is God?
  2. How has God revealed himself?
  3. How can I breach the chasm that exists between me and God and have a personal relationship with him?
  4. How can I be assured that this relationship with God will continue through this life and result in my living with God eternally?

My father was rushed to the hospital, and an emergency operation was performed upon him. Doctors discovered that he had lung cancer. His condition was critical because the cancer had spread to his heart. The doctors determined that he had less than one year to live.
